Don't hate me because I'm beautiful...

... or because I have a great sense of style (and the most fabulous maternity wardrobe),

Agroves3

... or because I'm a natural in front of the camera,

Agroves2

... or because my husband and I are so in love,

Agroves4

.... and we can't wait for our daughter to be born,

Agroves1

.... hate me because there is not one. single. stretch mark on my 9-month pregnant beautiful belly!

Allison and Paul, you were a joy to photograph! Thank you for coming all the way from Charleston just for your session - and on a concert day! I wish I could be in Louisiana to photograph her newborn session, but I can't wait to meet Miss S when you come back for Spoleto next year!

Sneak peek: Allison

Bet you'd never guess this beautiful, sexy woman is almost 9 months pregnant!

More from Allison & Paul's beach maternity session tomorrow!

Real.

A few posed family shots, the patriarch goes inside to start dinner, the parents grab some cold adult beverages and watch from the dunes while the kids play and I capture these typical but fleeting summer moments.

Love this! The sun, the feeling of pure freedom, yet her family watches from the dunes (and I'm between her and the ocean).

Notice the new blog header? Little Miss wanted the lemon from Dad's Corona and when that wasn't happening, the matriarch brought her some sugar wafers which she consumed with glee... and sand and maybe a shell or two. Mom just grinned and shrugged, wiped the excess sand from Little Miss' face and said "this will make for interesting diapers tomorrow."

I can't wait to see how these kids have grown by next summer!

Just say no to CHEESE

Cheese

He's a typical 4-year-old boy. As soon as he sees a camera, he assumes the CHEESE position. What're you going to do? Laugh!

::happysigh:: I love my job.

It's all about the teeth...

... or the lack therof.

Teeth

H. lost his tooth the night before our session. Can you believe the Tooth Fairy gives $10 when you're visiting South Carolina because she doesn't have to pay taxes? H's Mom and Dad know everything!

More to come, Sewell family!

Might as well JUMP!

Heartbreaking tragedy

From stevencurtischapman.com:

MARIA SUE CHAPMAN, DAUGHTER OF STEVEN CURTIS CHAPMAN, DIES IN ACCIDENT AT FAMILY HOME

NASHVILLE, TN...5/21/08... At approximately 5pm on the afternoon of Wednesday May 21st, Maria Sue Chapman, 5 years old and the youngest daughter to Steven and Mary Beth Chapman was struck in the driveway of the Chapman home in Franklin, TN. Maria was rushed to Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital in Nashville, transported by LifeFlight, but died of her injuries there. Maria is one of the close knit family’s six children and one of their three adopted daughters.

Adding to the tragedy, the driver of the car was Maria's teenage brother.

The Chapmans are very public advocates of adoption from China and 5-year-old Maria was the youngest of the three girls from China they adopted into their family. As the mother of a 5-year-old daughter from China and two teenage sons who drive, this news hit especially close to home for me. Please keep the Chapman family in your thoughts and prayers.

"I'm 3, but I can be 5!"

Jumping ahead a few sessions to share this little scamp who stole my heart.

I asked J. if he was 5 years old so he could help me with the white balance target - you know, so your family doesn't turn green in my camera. His eyes got THIS BIG and he said solemnly "I'm 3, but I can be 5!" Hopped right up, took the target, and concentrated heavily on making sure he held it just so, even ignoring the grownup conversations and baby kissing going on around him.

While I photographed other family groupings, J. kept the rest entertained as he chased squirrels, hid behind palmetto trees, and played chase with Uncle Matt and Daddy. When it was his turn in front of the camera again, he followed directions perfectly, posed, and then back to the real fun... and the promise of the beach.

More later - enjoy the rest of your vacation!

just one more...

One last "I'm in love with my camera and I want to marry it" post, I promise. I wanted to test my Big Papa lens (70-200 f2.8 VR) with the new camera to see how they get along. Non-photographer readers may be surprised to hear that some camera/lens combos work much better than others. Weird, eh?

So here's my (rather uncooperative) girl in the woods and at the beach. Yum.
